Varsity Performance Karate’s Head Coach, Kraig Devlin has been actively involved in the study and practise of karate for 34 years. For most of that time, Coach Devlin’s primary area of study has been competitive and sport karate.
Coach Devlin's personal coaching philosophy is that be greatest benefits of karate training and the practice of martial arts in general lie in the development self that comes through exposure to mental, physical, environmental and competitive challenges.
Over time and with progressive preparation, individuals engaged in positive martial arts training will become more resilient, mentally tough and physically capable.
Coach Devlin also believes that people are generally better than they believe themselves to be and that with quality coaching, students will learn to focus more of the positive aspects of themselves and less on their perceived negative qualities.
